SOUTH AFRICA MOVES TO LEVEL 1 BUT DONT FORGET TO VACCINATE – KAE NEWS
President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the nation today, 30 September 2021 on developments in the country’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
From midnight tonight, South Africa will move to Lockdown Alert Level 1 from Adjusted Level 2.
? Curfew will now be 00:00 until 04:00.?Alcohol sales will be permitted as usual. Monday to Sunday.
?Wearing of Masks is still mandatory in public.
Ramaphosa emphasised that South Africa needs to vaccinate a significant number of the adult population. Therefore, we will keep the pandemic at bay and eventually force it into decline.
To date over 8,3 million people are fully vaccinated and 17 million doses have been administered.
The South African Government has set a target of 70% of the population to be vaccinated by the end of the year. To reach this target an additional 16 million vaccines should be administered before the end of year.
Ramaphosa said that if we reach the 70% target the Department of Health (DoH) estimates that this could save 20,000 lives.
DoH will soon be rolling out a Vaccination Certificate which will be used to facilitate travel, access establishments and gatherings and other forms of activity that require proof of vaccination status.
Government will be launching Vooma Vaccination Weekends from tomorrow .
This will be a countywide drive to encourage as many people as possible to vaccinate during weekends.
Starting this this weekend, government will be opening up more vaccination sites to reach a lot of people as part of the Vooma Vaccination Drive.
Vaccination is free to all people living in South Africa. You may go to a government or private vaccination site even if you don’t have medical aid.
You can just go to a vaccination site with your ID/Passport and be registered on the spot.
