NANNY NABBED FOR KIDNAPPING A TODDLER – KAE NEWS
A 40 year old devastated father opened a case of kidnapping after a nanny vanished with his 18 month old daughter leaving another 3 year old unattended.
“The father had gone to Tembisa court leaving the Nanny with both his daughters, 03 years and 18 months old. When he came back, he found the 03 year old with the tenants while the nanny and the little girl were nowhere and their bags were also gone” said Constable Patricia Mgijima, the spokesperson of the Tembisa SAPS.
“The father started communicating with the nanny via whatsapp and she agreed to have taken the little child with her until he pay her the salary amounting to R4000 he is owing her”, Mgijima added.
A team of dedicated Tembisa Detectives, FCS ( Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit) Constable Tabane and Negotiators used their expertise experience to locate the nanny.
The 26 year old nanny was located to Lawley, Soweto where she was handed over by her brother who refused to sleep with a stranger’s child after his sister (suspect) had related the non payment story by the boss. The police were already following the signal of the cellphone which was leading them to the Lawley police station.
The suspect was arrested and detained at Tembisa police cells pending court appearance soon.
The Acting Station Commander Colonel Elmarie Pero thanked everyone who put an effort in finding the child and further urged the parents to be more vigilant and know who they hire since that person has to have a background check and be a trusted person especially with children.
There is no waiting period to report a missing person.
