JOHANNESBURG WATER ANNOUNCES WATER CHALLENGES AFFECTING THE CITY – KAE NEWS

Johannesburg Water, the provider of water and sanitation services in the City of Johannesburg, wishes to inform residents that due to pumping challenges some of it’s reservoirs and towers are running dry and empty.

Midrand areas including parts of Ebony Park, Kaalfontein and Ivory Park are currently affected. The Sandton area is also affected.

The Johannesburg Water Spokesperson, Nondumiso Mabuza, said it is anticipated that some areas in the City will also be affected.

More details will follow as and when they become available. Expected time of restoration is currently unknown.

WATER UPDATE: WATER TANKERS IN THESE AREAS

According to Johannesburg Water, there has been an explosion at Rand Water’s Palmiet Booster Pumping Station which has affected numerous areas across the City. The Greater Midrand Reservoirs have been affected and are running low.

“The cause of the explosion is unknown and a root cause analysis is currently being investigated, the repairs to the damaged infrastructure is currently being done on an emergency basis”, said Johannesburg Water in a statement.

Rand Water is working around the clock to conduct repairs and restore supply and currently not able to give an estimated period for the repairs. All Midrand suburbs are affected.
